To save the inn from falling apart, Megumi took it upon herself to learn the skill of traditional suspended cutting from the local fishermen. Though she had a bit of difficulty in the beginning, Megumi eventually learned the skill, allowing the inn to cook their signature dish again and earning the friendship and respect of the fishermen. Her mother was impressed of her skill at her age and recommended her to attend Tōtsuki Culinary Academy.
