Description

I also love how this book encourages kids (and adults) to get out and explore and not to take our environment for granted.

The narrative encourages children to use skills they already have while also challenging them to look further. Take this adorable book with it's vibrant illustrations along on a journey of exploration and interactive play rather in the country, in town, or at the seaside. The ten books offer a wide range of styles, themes and formats, to support your students in reading for enjoyment, discussing books and developing a long-term love of reading. This is a great children's book, which has lovely graphics and easy to read text, which my daughter and I enjoyed reading. This would be a great book to have in an Early Years setting and could be dipped into to reinforce a local area, minibeast or senses topic. Some things are easy to spot, like tall buildings or fluffy clouds, but some, like ants and other bugs, are so teeny tiny that you have to look very closely or even use a magnifying glass. Everyone in our house are massive fans of Ranger Hamza and his programme on CBeeBies, so I really wanted to check this book out as well. Using some bursts into verse, very bright colours and some dynamic presentation of the text, we get prompts to check out the smells and colours along our way, as well as any pairs, man-made numbers and signs, and different textures en route.

This fab interactive book will make for great reading with young children just before a walk and then to use throughout the walk. You could do a program where you take kids on a nature or just regular outside walk and go through the book. Ranger Hamza takes three kids for a walk where they look for different things around them and just take in their surroundings with their senses.I really liked this simple, but effective, book about all the things you can see, do and experience on a walk in your local area. I love that this book teaches so many things, and it also teaches kids to slow down to really look at what is around them.

Take this book with you on any ramble, wherever you live, with suggestions from Ranger Hamza for things to look out for.

Ranger Hamza will show you how to look around you and take in all the details surrounding you in nature, such as plants, trees, buildings, water, colours, shapes, smells and how things are tall, short, fuzzy, soft, smooth or rough, It will open your mind so that you can change the way you view things. Walking in the country, by the sea, or in the town, so many wonderful things to see if you stop and look around! What fun to plan follow up walking rambles to discover local strawberry fields, apple orchards, parks, farmer's markets, urban and nature trails, and more! Perfect for fans of CBeebies' 'Let's Go For a Walk', or for families looking to make their regular outings more fun. This sophisticated picture book invites the reader to become a "Wild Child" and embark on a breathtaking journey of discovery through nature.
