About this deal

Some might say that the band went at the material halfheartedly or without much passion, with Harry enjoying solo success with 1981's KooKoo. For Your Eyes Only”: a cunning stylistic amalgam that could fit nicely among Parallel Lines’ reinventions of ’60s pop. The first single (and also the only single released from this record) "Island of Lost Souls" is a calypso-flavored gem.

Heart of Glass", and " Maria" as well as sales of over 40 million records worldwide, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. There are many pop culture references and then modern issues mentioned throughout the album, such as The Beatles being referenced in “ English Boys” in response to John Lennon's death and military conflicts in Cambodia and the Middle East being referenced in “ War Child. I guess part of the reason why some people think this is the worst Blondie album ever is because it's so damn serious. Two singles were released from the album, " Island of Lost Souls" and "War Child" (the latter of which was also released as a 12″ extended version).

Though Harry’s pancultural heart is in the right place, her rap diction is about as convincing as, say, trying to imagine Dick Clark belting out “Soul Man. This might explain the long 18-month gap between _Autoamerican_ and 1982's swansong _The Hunter_, the longest gap between any of the original six Blondie albums.

The Hunter is the sixth studio album by American rock band Blondie, released on May 24, 1982, by Chrysalis Records. The final three tracks are the most casual and melancholy starting with, "(Can I) Find the Right Words (To Say)" which is a beautiful ballad with a great synth. For war child alone, this gets 4 stars, the rest of the album is best described as patchy, which is sad in a way because every album up to this point in Blondie's career was pretty much without fault. The New York-based rock group was briefly under consideration to perform the movie theme before Sheena Easton was chosen. The rest are middling ("Orchid Club", "Island of Lost Souls") to terrible ("The Beast", "Dragonfly", "(Can I) Find the Right Words (To Say)", "English Boys").

Little Caesar" is a strange little ditty, but I really have a soft spot for it because it's so unique and quirky. Songs like "(Can I) Find the Right Words (To Say)" aren't particularly memorable, but the subject matter - that of tackling crossword puzzles - must be one of the most bizarre foundations for a Blondie song. The Hunter would not be followed up until 17 years later when Blondie reformed and released their seventh studio album No Exit. It's not really a gem, but it's certainly underrated and also hugely diverse (the intense jungle rock of "Orchid Club," the sci-fi "Dragonfly," reggae of "Island of Lost Souls" and "Little Caesar," low-key jazz of the Smokey Robinson cover "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game"), which makes for an adventurous listen. I adore the story, it's about a woman trying to play games with a man, and the woman ends up getting "played" by the man. I was hoping that the music would be just as crazy, but after the somewhat promising first track that kinda matches the cover theme, it's generally a slog.

The summer Tracks Across America Tour '82 was set to promote the album but turned out to be unsuccessful. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

If Blondie kept up the same sense of experimentation and intrigue as "Orchid Club" for the duration of _The Hunter_, it may be hailed a gem or one of their most interesting works. At the least, it’ll have you wondering just how far an erstwhile New Wave pop group can row itself away from the mainstream before it finds itself out of the current altogether.
